Gieves & Hawkes Launch AW25 Collection

This autumn, Chester welcomes a striking new chapter in British tailoring heritage as Gieves & Hawkes unveils its Autumn/Winter 2025 collection, Eyes in the Sky.
A moving tribute to courage, craft, and legacy, the collection draws inspiration from the real-life stories of WWII fighter pilots, blending historic narrative with cutting-edge tailoring. With archival references reimagined through modern silhouettes, luxury fabrics, and intricate design details, Eyes in the Sky is both a sartorial homage and a reminder of timeless resilience.
Expect military-inspired tailoring with structured, armour-like lines, wool-cashmere blends, melange wools, and rich patina leathers, and standout design elements include the original Spitfire technical drawings. Each piece is layered with storytelling, honouring the lives of Squadron Leader Dick Churchill and Sandy Gunn, whose wartime heroism is central to the campaign.
Gieves and Hakwes Eyes in the Sky colour story is rooted in memory and sky: deep military greens, heritage browns, and slate greys are punctuated by sharp turquoise and bold red—hues drawn directly from flight suits, insignia, and the expansive skies of Europe during the war.
Dick Churchill, commissioned into the RAF in 1938, was shot down and captured by German forces during the war, and imprisoned at the infamous Stalag Luft III. Churchill was the last remaining surviving POW’s of The Great Escape - a mission defined by courage, strategy, and an unwavering belief in freedom.
Sandy Gunn, a reconnaissance pilot whose final flight ended tragically in 1942 when his Spitfire was shot down over Norway. captured and held in a prison of war camp, he became one of the brave soldiers involved in the Great Escape. Sadly, he was among those recaptured and shot dead by the Gestapo, a stark reminder of the countless lives cut short in the name of service
At the heart of this collection is collaboration and craftsmanship. From bespoke linings featuring hand-painted maps by Bellerby & Co. Globemakers, to support for Spitfire AA810’s restoration efforts, every detail reflects Gieves & Hawkes’ enduring commitment to heritage and innovation.
