Stephen Broadbent has been announced as speaker at this year’s Dean’s Dinner.
Stephen has worked as an artist, sculptor, designer, communicator, thinker and maker of art for over 40 years, following an initial period of study under the sculptor Arthur Dooley. He had his first one-man show in Savile Row, London at the age of 21.
Stephen’s creative output is wide-ranging, from meaningful memorials and designs creatively integrated into buildings or landscapes, to public sculptures and urban design projects, including ‘The River of Life’ memorial in Warrington, ’Celebration of Chester’ in Town Hall Square, and ‘Water of Life’ in the Garth at Chester Cathedral. Stephen also continues to create and develop smaller sculptures and models in his studio.
Stephen believes the ultimate success of any artwork will be its ability to endure beyond those that participated in its making and his vision is for art that engages and reconnects.
Stephen is a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors, holds a Doctor of Fine Arts from Chester University, and is a Lay Canon at Chester Cathedral.
