Chester Youth Pride

Youth Pride Takeover is a free event for young people and families.
Celebrate community, and enjoy a safe, inclusive space filled with fun arts and crafts activities.
The event is in partnership with Chester Pride and Storyhouse, sponsored by Chester BID.
Artist: Sean Southerland-Kirby (UncleFrogface)
Activity: Story Crafting Extravaganza
The creation of story crafting cards designed and illustrated by the children themselves with the guidance of Sean. Each card can feature a character creature, place, item, or any element that ignites their imagination. By mixing and matching these cards, the children will generate random story events that fuel creative play.
After they’ve had plenty of fun experimenting with their decks—swapping cards, mixing them up for unusual combinations, and sharing stories with friends and family—they’ll even have a chance (time permitting) to write and illustrate their very own story books. And the best part? They get to take home both their custom card decks and story books as a keepsake of their creative adventure.
Artist: Jen McAndrew
Activity: Accessible workshop
Meeting Room: Quiet Zone
Accessible activities such as art, board games and fidget toys to help enable a safe quiet space for those who wish to take some time out of the busy event. This area will be open throughout the event and will be unmanned apart from regular check in visits by Chester Pride Community Engagement Manager, Rachael
Artist: Chloe and Willzy (Cheshire Dance)
The artists will be running a theatre and movement based workshop exploring the theme of solidarity in the LGBTQIA+ community, drawing from elements of theatre, clowning, physical theatre and dance in a series of creative exercises designed to get the young people moving and using their voice. This workshop is open to all experience levels and abilities.
Artist: Laura Limer (Northwich Pride)
Laura and co will deliver a workshop around their pride quilt project. Members of the public will be able to design a quilt patch to be included in the overall large finished quilt. This can be any design they wish and all materials will be provided by the artist.
Artist: Radiate Arts
Radiate Arts will be hosting a drop-in activity of a collaborative textile banner. The activity will be called ‘What does Pride mean to me?” It will be suitable for all skill levels so everyone can add a personal piece. Radiate Arts will also host an information area.
