Grosvenor Shopping Centre becomes Eastgate Square

One of Chester’s best-loved shopping destinations has a new name and a new look. Grosvenor Shopping Centre has today officially become Eastgate Square – marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the city’s story.

The change reflects both the centre’s rich heritage and its ambitions for the future. Positioned beside the world-famous Eastgate Clock, Eastgate Square takes inspiration from its location at the heart of Chester – a place where history, culture and modern city life meet.

Owned and managed by Martin Property Group, Eastgate Square is currently undergoing a major transformation, with investment focused on creating a brighter, more welcoming space for visitors. The works include upgraded lighting, refreshed seating, new signage and thoughtful design improvements throughout the centre – all aimed at enhancing the shopping and leisure experience.

Our vision for Eastgate Square is to create a destination that stands out for all the right reasons;
a place that reflects Chester’s heritage while embracing its future. This investment represents our long-term commitment to the city and its people. By revitalising the centre and welcoming exceptional new brands, we’re ensuring Eastgate Square becomes a vibrant, inspiring part of Chester’s story for years to come.
Gary Martin, Director, Martin Property Group

Looking ahead, the centre will welcome H Beauty by Harrods as a flagship new arrival, with further high-profile openings to follow. These additions will complement the ongoing refurbishment and underline the ambition to bring new energy, new experiences and a new rhythm to this historic part of the city.

We want Eastgate Square to feel like a place that belongs to everyone
somewhere that reflects Chester’s character and celebrates its future. The changes you’ll see across the centre in the coming months are designed to make every visit more enjoyable, more inspiring and more connected to the city we love. This is just the beginning, and we’re excited to continue building a destination that our community, our retailers and our visitors can all be proud of.
Lisa Rogers, Centre Manager, Eastgate Square

While its name and look may be evolving, Eastgate Square’s purpose remains the same: to be a place for people to shop, meet and connect – a gateway to everything Chester has to offer.
