Chester BID Partners with The Firs School for Creative Collaboration
Chester BID is proud to celebrate a fantastic local collaboration with The Firs School as part of the upcoming Chester Duck Race 2026, in support of The Countess Charity.
As part of this family friendly event, Chester BID sponsored a duck and invited pupils from The Firs School to bring it to life with a unique design that captures the spirit of the city. The initiative formed part of a creative competition, with the winning student awarded a £50 Chester Gift Card.
The winning design was created by Ainhoa, whose colourful and imaginative artwork beautifully showcases some of Chester’s most iconic landmarks. Her design features recognisable elements such as Grosvenor Park, Eastgate Clock, Chester Market and more—perfectly capturing the character and charm of the city.
This design will now be brought to life by gifted and talented artists, along with Mrs Jones. The decorated duck will then take to the water alongside many others at the Chester Duck Race, which takes place on Saturday 25th April 2026.
The event promises a full day of family fun, with activities including a colouring competition, hook a duck, face painting and more from 12 midday, before the main race begins at 3pm.
Spectators can watch as the ducks race down the River Dee, all in aid of a great cause. Who will be crowned this year’s winner?
This year’s event is proudly sponsored by Hickory's Smokehouse, helping to bring the community together for a memorable day of entertainment and fundraising.
We’re incredibly proud to work alongside The Firs School on such a creative initiative. It’s been fantastic to see the pupils’ enthusiasm and talent during this competition, and Ainhoa’s design perfectly captures what makes Chester so special. Events like the Chester Duck Race are a brilliant way to bring people together while supporting an important local charity.
